My Story

I created this page because I wanted to take on a new challenge that would help the local community. I have been inspired by the work of Highland Hospice and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in Highlanders Cycle 2019.

The Highlanders Cycle is a 5 day road cycle challenge in September 2019. Covering more than 400 miles we will climb nearly the height of Everest in a loop around the Highlands. From Wick to Durness, through Ullapool, Skye and Fort William, before finishing in Inverness.

I will also be taking on a personal challenge in the run up to the main event by attempting to complete 25 laps of my local mountain bike trails at Craig Dunain hill in Inverness in the course of a day. A task that while only covering approximately 60km will climb half the height of Everest (4400m) and descend the same amount over rough and steep downhill trails.

This year the Highlanders Cycle is attempting to raise the funds required to support a key program of Therapeutic Arts at the Hospice. Therapeutic art has been shown to assist in the management of symptoms, reducing anxiety and depression and alleviating pain and fatigue. It can enable people to concentrate on something other than illness and provide enjoyment and improved quality of life.

Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about Highland Hospice, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

Thank You
